My creative process starts with no particular plan. I grab a black pen and a sheet of regular white paper and let my creativity flow, forming random shapes. It’s exciting to see what pours out of my subconscious. In the beginning, the lines are usually scattered and there is no recognizable plan to the doodles.
I take inspiration for my doodles from my surroundings and incorporate shapes, structures, and objects that I see. My style is typically influenced by industrial vibes, machinery, architecture, botanics, and nature. These influences guide the random shapes that grow organically, evolving into a cohesive piece of art. Not only does my environment inspire me, but I also begin to perceive my surroundings differently and see the fascinating beauty in ordinary everyday objects.
My primary tool is usually a 0.4mm black pen, perfect for most of the drawing. For finer details and shading, I switch to 0.1mm and 0.05mm pens. For larger dark areas, I opt for thicker pens. This range of pen thicknesses allows for a rich variety of textures and depths, giving each doodle its unique character.
The drawing process is fluid and intuitive. I move around the paper, adding elements as they come to mind, without striving for perfection. Each doodle naturally establishes its own set of rules—whether it incorporates gravity, light direction, three-dimensional objects, or remains completely surreal and abstract. Each doodle is its own little universe with its own laws of physics.
The simplicity of pen and paper allows me to draw almost anywhere. Along with a clipboard, my drawing kit travels with me wherever I go. I’ve sketched in a variety of settings—from a snowy mountaintop during a ski vacation to lounging in a park in summer. I often listen to audiobooks or music, which helps my creative flow and keeps it relaxed and inspired.
Deciding when a drawing is complete can be challenging, as it’s easy to keep adding details. Once finished, the doodle is scanned in high resolution. The digitalization process involves minimal post-processing—ensuring the image is purely black and white and perfectly centered. This high-resolution digital version allows me to print the artwork on larger scales, suitable for canvases and posters. Same goes for various other printed products such as T-shirts, hoodies and mugs.
